The regular Vernon Republican Town Committee meeting was interrupted this evening for the induction ceremony of George Apel into the Order of the Golden Pencil.
In recognition of his heroic efforts in slaying the evil Budget Dragon that has been plaguing our poor community for years, George was awarded the highest rank –Knight Sharpist.
He was escorted to the podium by the honor guard of Sir William Campbell and Sir Walter Mealy. The proclamation was read by Poobah Harold Cummings and then the emoluments of office and the symbols of his exalted rank were presented by Grand Poobah Jason McCoy Raucus party followed (well by Republican standards it was raucus) as George’s well wishers consumed the ceremonial cake and ice cream.
