A quick note from Hal Cummings,Vernon Republican Town Committee Chair.
” We had a great town committee meeting last night. Over 30 in attendance including Tim Ackert, Coventry, who briefed us on his campaign for 8th District.
Cathy Rebai, Dave Kemp and George Apel brought us up to date on Board of Ed activities, including their work on the budget (important Bd of Ed budget meeting tonight, 3rd floor, Bd of Ed building, 7:30 PM), Dan Anderson and Bill Campbell told us about council issues.
Jason McCoy gave a very detailed briefing on his work on the budget and his meetings with various department heads. Dave Kemp praised Jason’s work with the Bd of Ed, Dave said in over 20 years on the Bd of Ed, for the first time, the mayor came to a budget workshop and brought the town finance director, Jim Luddecke, with him. Whatever the outcome of the discussions between Bd of Ed and the Mayor, over the budget, everyone is really working together and working hard to bring in as lean a budget as possible.
I know many of you couldnt make the meeting for very legitimate reasons, but if you really want to know what’s going on in town, and you want to have some input into the process, the best place to be is at our town committee meetings. We have a great team in office and they do want to hear from you.
Next meeting will be fourth Wednesday, March 26th, 7:30 Vernon Senior Center, election of officers, delegates to various conventions and reports from our elected officials. Hope to see you then. Hal. ”
