On May 22, 2007, Andover voted their budget down, by referendum, in a ratio of 2 against & 1 in favor. Score: 337 against &116 in favor of the budget. This was the first referendum on their 2007-08 budget.
Comments, by the Journal Inquirer, were rather interesting.
“Voters clearly thought the budget could be reduced from the 7.2 percent increase that the spending plan carries. In response to the ballot question,
“Is the budget too high?,” 372 said yes, 38 said no. In response to whether the $3.8 million Board of Education budget is too high, 297 said yes, 94 said no.” prints the Journal Inquirer.
