Clinton’s National Security Advisor appointee, Samuel R. “Sandy” Berger was first charged with a federal Law “UNAUTHORIZED REMOVAL, RETENTION OF CLASSIFIED DOCS – MATERIALS” under USA v. Samuel Berger, DC, case# 1:05-mj-00175-DAR-1, filed March 2005.
The sentence: 2 years Supervised Probation; Special Condition: Fine and Supervision Cost $56,905.52; Assessment Cost $25.00 to be Paid by the close of business 9/9/05; 100 hours of Community Service; No access to Classified Material for a period of 3 years; Court Waived Mandatory Substance Abuse Testing.
Well here we are 2 years later, 2007, and Mr Berger has now announced he will surrender his law license.
The surrending of his license also means “the Bar” wont need to cross examine him, under oath, of any other theft items not found by the 9-11 commission.
