The Hartford Courant reports, today, the Vernon Town Council, will convene again today to complete a budget proposal to submit to the annual town meeting.
(This evening’s council meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the senior center on Park Place.)
Councilman Bill Campbell was quoted “”I just think it’s an excessive tax increase for people,” Campbell said. But searching for items in the budget to cut is no easy task, he said. The budget has been cut so much over the years that town council members have little leeway.
“We just don’t get enough money from the state”.
The article also said Per the Vernon Mayor…
Without revaluation, Marmer’s budget proposal would have required a 6.67 percent tax increase, but revaluation is making the increase more than double that.

“ Call it what you like, Reevaluation, Re-evaluation or Re-val. Revaluation (and Mill rates) count only if there is A bill to pay “
